When the time comes for you to start influencing with integrity, an NLP performance coach will work with you to access that part of your nervous system that makes connections with other people, by establishing and maintaining rapport . Rapport is the process of getting the attention and trust of the unconscious mind.
So what does this mean in practice?
Imagine that you are writing a report and you need input from several departments in order to complete it. Choose a person who you wish to persuade and BEFORE you send that email consider going to talk to them face to face :0) As you prepare to talk to the person consider what may be important to them and how you can connect their outcome and yours in a meaningful way. Begin by looking at their “body language” and find a way to Match the way they are standing, the rate of their breathing, the key phrases and gestures that they use, their facial expression. The key word here is SUBTLY. When you are “in rapport” talk about their contribution to the report, the benefit to them of doing so and how it will help you to achieve your outcome. Enjoy the process of maintaining rapport. For those of you who perceive this as a big step spend some time noticing how people do this naturally when they are in a meeting or in deep conversation by the coffee machine. Smile
